Usually I am sympathetic towards people losing their jobs. However, that goes out the window when their government is hostile and I am watching family struggle due to the trade war.

You can dress it up any way you like, delighting in innocent people’s suffering makes you unequivocally a huge asshole and always will.
Maybe those innocent people should haul a guillotine down to DC and loudly complain to those responsible for this mess instead of pointing fingers at other countries.
Y’all get no sympathy from me. Take care of your fucking fascism problem. The second amendment is useful for more than shooting children in classrooms.
YOU VOTED FOR YOUR MISSERY AND IT AFFECTED THE WORLD AND NOW YOU ARE SURPRISED PEOPLE ARE NOT SUPPORTING YOU.
YOUR COUNTRY IS THE WORLD TERRORIST AND THE FACT THAT ONE MAN CAN AFFECT THE WORLD ECONOMY LIKE YOUR ORANGE MUSSOLINI HAS IS PROOF OF IT.
YES, PEOPLE ARE HAPPY THAT YOUR COUNTRY IS FEELING A SLIGHT SLIVER OF WHAT IT HAS DISHED OUT TO OTHERS IN OVER 250 YEARS.
YOUR IGNORANCE IS WHAT FUELS YOUR COMMENTS AND YOUR “EXCEPTIONALISM” IS ALL YOU KNOW.
IMAGINE THINKING YOU ARE THE BEST NATION ON EARTH ALL WHILE TERRORIZING MOST OTHER NATIONS FOR OVER 100 YEARS.
THIS IS WHY WE ARE PISSED.
NOW FUCK OFF AND GET RID OF YOUR FASCISTS.
Didn’t read it, but like I said, dress it up any way you like, bigot.
That’s not what bigot means lol
Absolutely does actually
Intolerance of people from any country will always be bigotry, nothing you or I could do to change that regardless
all I got to say is don’t tread on me.
But by your own definition of bigotry there’s none of that to be found in this thread. Sure, you could construe an intolerance of people from the US (even though it’s more like intolerance of their many years of harmful bullshit) but there’s absolutely no partiality toward any group. It’s purely frustration at the US and many of its citizens’ stubborn unwillingness to own up to the countless problems their country has caused across generations, let alone right now.
I’m intolerant of the US in the same way someone might be lactose intolerant. When you find out, it doesn’t mean you immediately hate all dairy, you just have to start considering what items are worth the consequences.
We are all assholes. What will you do when they eventualy draft you? I am still up voting though cause I am like that. It is all types of fuck up.
Not sure why your Ted Kaczynski sounding ass and your alt are commenting on week old threads but I’m definitely good on this discussion.
Not many innocents. They voted for this, and a third didn’t care to vote at all
Yes let us justify our disgusting behavior by grouping in innocent people with others. Feels like there’s a name for that. Hmm.
Well hopefully this will be a lesson learned for the apathetic populous that allowed this to happen.
Indeed, some “justified” bigotry will teach us a lesson. Perhaps next time we’ll try some shit like the Jan 6 morons. How about we try an even stupider version of it. Express a bit more hatred for us and any day we’ll do it.
YOU ARE SUCH A TYPICAL AMERICAN, INSTEAD OF DOING SOMETHING YOU LASHE OUT AT THOSE OBSERVING LIKE IT IS OUR FAULT.
CLEAN YOUR ROOM BIG BOY AND SHOW THE REST OF THE WORLD WHAT AMERICAN EXCEPTIONALISM REALLY IS.
They were pushing back. Not lashing out. And here you are screaming at them about it. Alright bud.
Americans need the world to scream at them for all the bad things they have done in history.
You guys love pretending you are the good guys all while creating horrible outcomes for the majority of the world and taking no blame at all. All in the name of $$$$
In fact you live in denial; denial of why 911 happened, denial of slavery, denial of anything that can remotely paint your country as bad.
I could go on but I’m tired, tired of fascism at the end of my days, tired of stupidity repeated ad nauseum.
Are you aware that typing in all caps is strongly associated with morons?
That third voted for this by sitting out.
voting and sitting out are not the same
Voting third party in the general is at best sitting it out, at worst voting for the Republican, but you know that.
Republicans are part of the two-party duopoly. voting for a so-called third party is not voting for either of those parties.
It’s fptp, third parties are fundamentally nonviable in the overwhelming majority of places. It is functionally impossible for a third party to win the presidency. Due to gerrymandering and the spoiler effect most third party votes help Republicans get elected. Vote for Dems oyn the general and vote for the most progressive candidates available in the primaries. That’s the only actual way in the current political system to effect progressive change at the federal level, by tea partying the Dems leftward. Anything else gets republicans elected. But on the other hand the fascism has come too far for elections to fix it any more, so there you go.
not with that attitude.
Not in the US. Attitude is irrelevant. You either pull the democratic party left by participating in primaries or you help elect Republicans. There are literally no other possibilities.
The people who voted for the Dumpster at least managed to take the most basic, simple first step in starting to fulfill their civic duty. I don’t know if I can bring myself to laud that, but I’ve certainly no credit to award those who didn’t even vote at all.
If so much as 10% of the nation is engaged and has so much as a spark of competence yet cannot bear to vote Democrat, where did all the 3rd-party and off-ballot votes go? Why are those still practically a rounding error, hovering around 2% every year but 2016?
Those who didn’t vote at all ought to feel the most shame, because the laziness of abdicating all personal responsibility doesn’t offer half the emotional shielding that idiocy does.
I’m unsure how to feel about the non-voters. Im in UK and didnt vote in the Brexit thing, because I didn’t understand nearly enough of the rules or regulations and was being sent contradictory pamphlets every day.
I dont know what it looked like inside the US leading up to the election, so maybe it didnt seem as easily “maybe good vs definitely evil” as it did from the outside.
That reason might have flown in the first Trump election. Not so much the second one.
who knows? could be that the media ices out all other parties. could be that political operatives have been vote-shaming and spreading a myth about its inefficacy.
Ever heard of realpolitik? Being righteous doesn’t matter on a geopolitical scale, especially not when it comes to an imperial superpower currently in the midst of its death throes. I’m afraid you’ll have to come to terms with billions of people understandably revelling in hundreds of years of a country’s utter nonsense finally returning itself to sender. Might be irrational, but it’s definitely not without precedent.
Yes I have heard of flimsy bullshit justifications before
Mhm… I’m sure you have some solid reasoning for that claim that you’re withholding for good cause and not for a complete lack of substance.
But you’re not an asshole because the very shitty belief you have is part of a bigger picture, or something. Pathetic.
THIS RIGHT HERE IS WHY AMERICANS GET NO SYMPATHY FROM THE REST OF THE WORLD.
THIS RIGHT HERE, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, IS AMERICAN EXCEPTIONALISM.
I’m guessing there’s a lot said that you don’t understand. I tire of you. Sure will miss these thoughtful takes though.
So all the USians celebrating that Russia is cut off from Western trade and SWIFT, and that its economy is failing, are huge assholes?
Did you actually think I wouldn’t say yes to that? “No, it’s fine to do it when I hate an entire people” /s
Literally the entire point I’m making is that it is horrendous to blindly cast hatred upon thousands/millions of strangers.
But yet you have no words for your own country only others.
SHUT THE FUCK UP, YOUR WORDS ARE MEANINGLESS AT THIS POINT FOR THE REST OF THE WORLD.
I do not always agree with the person you’re replying to, but to suggest that they don’t ever have criticism for the US is extremely disingenuous.
What they’re arguing is that there are over seventy-five million of us that actively voted against this, and those people do not deserve the blame here.
Do you know how many people that actually is? I mean truly?
According to a quick Google search, the amount of people who voted for Kamala Harris in 2024 is larger than the entire populations of every country after Germany on the list of nations by population. That’s from number 20 to number 234.
https://www.worldometers.info/world-population/population-by-country/
That’s the amount of people who voted. For Kamala. People who were eligible, registered, and showed up even after Dems pulled their candidate last minute.
More people than in all of Thailand. More people than in all of France, Italy, the United Kingdom, Egypt, Turkey, South Korea… I will stop because it would literally be easier to just list the 19 nations with a higher population than total Kamala Harris voters.
Now spread that over a land mass the size of China, and maybe you’ll start to understand why people in Washington State aren’t “making a day of it” to bring a guillotine to the white house (and do what, exactly? I mean talk about empty fucking gestures) in DC. A literal continent away. A literal physical impossibility for a working person to do.
Just like Germans in 1945.
American exceptionalism right here folks.
They are now too afraid to fight fascists because they are the fascists.
