Edit: it doesn’t even state that it should be close to usable, just that it resembles closely enough. So I admit to being wrong but now I don’t understand your point of it being almost a firearm
One of the largest markets for replicas is the entertainment industry. Which uses squibs, blanks or other methods to make it look like they were fired. Which without modification can cause serious injury or death.
Having a pistol that can fire a low charge blank doesn’t need a fully hardened barrel, which on some is easily replaced. As an example.
There is also the ability to make someone think you are holding a firearm that could cause them harm (easy if the person isn’t infantry qualified), especially during a robbery.
These people didn’t have them to put them in a shadow box, they had them to appear more dangerous, which can push them into the terrorist designation.
If it looks like a real gun, it’s pretty much exactly as effective for commiting crimes as a real unloaded gun. There’s very few legitimate reasons to have a replica firearm and they are highly regulated. Anyone with a criminal record would not be able to get a license for prohibited firearms.
There are specific exemptions that can be applied on top of a PAL to acquire prohibited firearms. For example, law enforcement is allowed to carry handguns.
Replicas aren’t toys. They are often a barrel or tigger group assembly away from being a proper firearm.

That all you have? Seriously…
Edit: Replicas aren’t toys and assertions otherwise is disinformation

Not according to legislation or the government of Canada.
You are wrong.
And yet they are not a firearm
I’ve seen people using fireworks as firearms on the streets, there’s no sense in measuring distance from being a proper firearm, imo
point one at a cop and get back to us.
Brother, cops will shoot a child holding a the yellow piece of plastic with a big red button at the end. That ain’t the argument you think it is.
That will probably end bad even if it was a banana pointed at a cop
And yet they are still regulated by firearm legislation…

And yet you called them toys.
Seems like you have no understanding about the thread you walked into bigot.

Hey look who is intentionally misrepresenting this to spin a narrative.
Edit: From the RCMP THEMSELVES: Replica firearms are prohibited devices in Canada.
Go sit on a barrel cactus.

Hey man, this is an incredibly weird thing to go after and be wrong about.
Did you?
