Apparently yes.
Apparently yes.
I don’t think that anybody should have nuclear weapons. Do you support assassinating scientists?
Attacking civilians doesn’t automatically make it a genocide. If that were true, then pretty much every war ever was a genocide.
Why did the authoritarian regime wait until now to turn off the Internet?
Or it was just a weird network issue. A week is a long time, though.
Same on FireDragon with Garuda.
There are speech police in the real world. Workplaces don’t allow you to use slurs or to harass your co-workers. That’s just one example. In fact, any social group that I can think of will punish you for saying something. Some are more lenient than others, but every one has a line that you cannot cross.
No newsgroups? No IRC?
Tbf, having a central authority dictate the truth to you ain’t so great.
I don’t think the phrase “third-party fact checkers” (plural) implies a central authority.
Neither is having classes of people who you aren’t allowed to offend.
Facebook can’t stop you from offending people. What they can do is make it slightly more difficult by disallowing slurs, etc.
“I don’t care if I get dirt in my mouth, but I better not get it in my hair.”
I love Arch, but it is not for beginners. WiFi and Bluetooth are both sketchy. Or, at least, they used to be.
If they aren’t worried about dirt, I doubt that they’re gonna be worried about spit or piss.
Ask yourselves why the logic works for social media but not porn.
Because they’re two completely different things.
Damn, the whole world really is going authoritarian.
Donald Trump does not have “all the power”. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be acquiescing to the courts at all. It’s wild to me that you think that the US government would do a worse job of running SpaceX and Starlink than Elon Musk.
You’re treating it like simply replacing one CEO with another, but that isn’t what it would be. I know that Trump wants to be king, but he still isn’t.
I’ve got the feeling none of y’all read past the headline.
Yeah, let’s leave all that power in the hands of one narcissistic egomaniac who’s frequently going on ketamine benders. What could possibly go wrong?
Trump has been impeached successfully. Twice. What I assume you mean is that he hasn’t been removed from office. That could be the consequence of an impeachment, but not necessarily.
Yeah, whenever I had a job that required a Mac, they had the decency to loan me one. If my job required me to buy one, I’d be looking for another job. I hate Macs.
Sure, somebody will. But the system will take note of that person, and then they don’t get to ride again. Or they have to pay a fine. Or whatever.
