Out of curiosity, I checked her wikipedia page. How did she jump from a relatively regular tech career to CEO of BlueSky in 2 years?

My wife is on bluesky and she was telling me yesterday she has had a surge of random followers as well, most likely bots. What she was annoyed about is the block feature doesn’t get them to unfollow you or something. And a portion of the bots are porn repost bots.
You literally use Mint without ever opening the terminal if you’re just a regular/casual user. The update manager notifies you of new updates and you can use the gui.
We aren’t justifying getting shafted by corporations. What I and the other person are saying is that at some point as your connections and cables multiply, you need to consolidate and streamline your setup for it to be more practical and actually mobile. I’m all for having all the basic necessity ports on my laptop, but when your desk ends up as a mess of cables and pulling out and putting back your laptop becomes bothersome with having to attach/re-attach everything every time, having a dock makes it much simpler. Subjecting yourself to setting up all those cables on both ends instead of just one end is the opposite of having a mobile workstation for quick setup and cleanup.
With that many connections, using a dock or a monitor with thunderbolt seems more practical than having a ton of stuff plugged into your laptop.
So the cars will become cheaper right? Right?
You can now give someone the finger and tell them that’s the only time you have for them
Because most people switching don’t know (or care) about the fediverse and decentralization. They are regular internet users who just want to get away from the cesspool that is twitter, so they go where other people are going.
The post about Stephen King moving to Threads says otherwise. But to be fair, it’s Threads and not Bluesky, which people here hate more.
Did you have to do any special configuration, or was it a seamless installation just like a non-mac laptop?
Right, but the distros employees are allowed to use are dictated by corporate IT so they are able to control them and have the required endpoint security tools. So people who prefer linux have very limited options.
Most of our sysads use macOS. A few use linux but they have limited choices with distros and can only use fedora I think.
And you’re still alive right? /s. Akin to the people who said Musk’s firing of twitter employees was a genius move because the site was “still running” after all that.
I just use Audacious with a winamp skin. Looks identical but actually FOSS.
Startpage gives you the same google results, minus the AI responses.
Gotta ask some of my coworkers if they were one of the participants in the survey.
You can respond with a message included. If I see the location as a physical room and not a zoom link, I accept/tentative and add a comment that I won’t be at the office on that day/time and if we can do it online instead.
Yeah, that’s what the meeting invite RSVP is for.
The thing with climate change is, like science, it’s true whether you believe it or not. I’ve seen those types of comments as well because I follow some news pages and I honestly don’t even bother engaging. The people who have the time to go on comment sections of news articles like that are never going to be convinced otherwise.
Don’t go full supervillain, just a little bit less.
