Interesting content! Is it available as a web page and not PDF?

Anyway, from the first article:

Palestinians do not have their own currency. Under the 1994 Paris Protocol, they were locked into using the Israeli shekel, with no central bank of their own to issue money or set monetary policy. […] Since Palestinians clear their money in shekels, Palestinian banks can only settle transactions by routing through Israeli correspondent banks. Those banks process Palestinian transactions only under an indemnity waiver from Israel’s finance ministry, a piece of paper that shields them from legal liability for handling Palestinian-linked money. The waiver has to be renewed on a schedule, which means that a routine bit of financial plumbing doubles as a political switch that someone in a ministry can flip.

While some people in Gaza have access to Bank of Palestine accounts, many have lost this access or never had it. Cryptocurrency has become one of the most reliable ways to get funds directly to those who need them.

I got fastmail about a year ago. I was pleased I could turn off SMS 2FA and use only TOTP, and generating masked single-use email addresses is great. Also surprisingly easy to set up the MX record for my existing domain. Their own web client is good, I’m using FairEmail on Android.

Exactly — money is not the only cost nor benefit. It’s fun, it gives me control, it’s not going to get acquired and trashed, etc.

The auto-generated memories I’ve seen it create are pretty inane: “always name variables container_ when in MySpecificClass”. Not really learning engineering principles.

Similar, I’ve found AGENT.md files might nudge it in the right direction, but as always it’s a fuzzy matcher, not a learning engineer.

Human review of AI is sufficient in theory, but in practice it’s never as thorough as the understanding you get writing it yourself. It’s hard to avoid AI, but it is a constant invitation to laziness.

I would be delighted for my Volvo to stop popping up a full-screen “try Gemini” page while I’m driving.

But yes, I would rather not brick the infotainment.

The fundraising issues page seems to be gone now.

Bummer to learn of Wikipedia’s Zionist leadership. Followed that trail to Jimmy Wales’ comment from 2025 November :

I assume good faith of everyone who has worked on this Gaza “genocide” article. At present, the lede and the overall presentation state, in Wikipedia’s voice, that Israel is committing genocide, although that claim is highly contested. This is a violation of WP:NPOV and WP:ATTRIBUTEPOV that requires immediate correction. Remember: “This policy is non-negotiable, and the principles upon which it is based cannot be superseded by other policies or guidelines, nor by editor consensus.”

A neutral approach would begin with a formulation such as: “Multiple governments, NGOs, and legal bodies have described or rejected the characterization of Israel’s actions in Gaza as genocide.”

Nice response to that there:

We don’t even seriously argue some Robert F. Kennedy Jr. type anti-vaccination positioning anywhere, for instance, or for moon landing hoax or flat earth theories. Those are extreme examples, but even on the spectrum of those to the Gaza genocide, the same basic formula and calculus applies. The conclusion of an article under WP:NPOV on anything contentious is always inconvenient for someone. That’s neither a bug nor a feature. It’s a mirrored reflection of consensus reality.

Anyway, I’m left in a similar conundrum. I stopped my monthly donation when they refused to recognize the union, and was going to restart after I caught up on the news the union got the NLRB’s recognition, but now I’m hesitating.

That’s pretty much the interaction I expect in New England.

And, it’s better than waiting around for the self-checkout attendant to fix the error when the self-checkout kiosk doesn’t detect the reusable bag I brought correctly.

Let’s just quickly check https://isaiprofitable.com/ :

Nope. The answer is still “they’re burning cash.” Only the companies making silicon are raking it in.

Yeah, I’d like to see the cost of sub-prime mortgage on that chart.

We need to stop fining and start taking away privileges. Sorry, you can’t buy/build any fossil fuels any more.

Nice! The UI doesn’t feel as polished as Boost, but that’s a great feature.

I don’t really want to hear anything from the AI companies that isn’t from a skeptical third party news source, they’ve lied enough already.

Is there a client or way of posting that will consolidate 4 shares to 4 communities I’ve joined into one post? Using Boost/Android currently.

I wish that were purely a joke, but co-workers are unironically suggesting we deal with the avalanche of AI code by sending an AI to review it.

And that’s not even talking about code review.

And it doesn’t even have to make anyone more productive, it just has to convince leadership they can get by with less in the short term.

dictates the minimum allowed bandwidth. Out of the box MeshCore operates at 62.5 kHz and Meshtastic uses 250 kHz, but the FCC says it needs to be 500 kHz or higher.

Why is more bandwidth better? Is it spreading out the same energy = less interference potential? Usually the goal is to use the least bandwidth (and power) possible, right?

Ammo company: “Our bullets keep going so fast they kill people! Sometimes at other ammo companies! Oh noes!”

And I guess Nvidia is making guns, here.

The title is still driving one narrative by omission, and sending traffic to OpenAI. Let’s promote sources telling the whole story instead.
