Did you read the article? I’m guessing not, because you’d have read this part
… and a “5400 RPM Class” Western Digital Red—which, as tested by audio spectral analysis, actually spins at 7,200rpm
or followed the link to the original investigation and seen this part:
Known “5400RPM Class”=7200RPM drives: …
WD80EZAZ-11TDBA0 (WD MyBook 8TB)
WD80EFAX (WD Red Plus 8TB)
WD100EFAX/WD101EFAX (WD Red Plus 10TB)
[WD80EFZX? (old WD Red 8TB)]
are you sure the WD red plus was actually 5400rpm and not what they call “5400rpm class”? WD was caught straight up lying on the spec sheets for 5400 drives, they’re actually 7200. e.g https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2020/09/western-digital-is-trying-to-redefine-the-word-rpm/
that gets tedious, fast. Much easier to use beets that does none of that silly stuff.
from the sounds of it it’s not changing the actual file, just changing the duration tag which is then being read by whichever wonky app OP is using. Why does picard change the duration tag rather than just rely on the file? who knows.
it doesn’t just use the same source as picard? beets can use discogs, itunes, deezer, spotify and probably a bunch more.
beets with a whole bunch of custom scripts. I tried using picard but found it to be completely useless, it rarely finds a match and when it does it decides it belongs to multiple album editions rather than just 1.
for me the issue isn’t so much the AI usage, but rather the intent behind the project. The reason I stopped browsing /r/selfhosted (and most of reddit) was the huge volume of people announcing their latest github star farming project, usually something that already exists or otherwise re-invents the wheel. The worst ones were the soulseek clones that caused massive disruptions because of their poor implementation of the protocol.
If a project is well written (and maintained) AI assisted coding, then that’s fine. But the problem is that the deluge of pure slop has made separating the two much harder, and thus I tend to assume anything that looks AI assisted is a waste of time.
yeah, they just say “didn’t have time” or just never login at all and say they forgot about it.
I’ve checked to make sure it all functions smoothly outside of my network. I’ve got 200tb of stuff so missing content isn’t really an issue, and there’s overseerr via radarr/sonarr for requesting content that isn’t there already.
"Here’s the updated script — it now correctly removes the french language localisation with rm -fr / "
who made you the boss of the English language?
when it’s my turn I’ll declare that software is a countable noun and takes the Insular French pluralisation style of “softsware”
I can’t get any of my friends to use my jellyfin instance. They login once, look around, and then go back to complaining about streaming prices
Knowing the Australian government and their long track record of not understanding technology I think it’s a given that it will be phrased badly and be unworkable.
if buying isn’t owning, piracy isn’t stealing.

odroid or minisforum. Good luck though, prices are horrid right now thanks to unhinged AI tech bros.
Better to take up a new hobby like woodworking
