It’s supposed to be in the style of those “socialism is when government does stuff” memes. That’s pretty much how all of them end

Government doing things ≠ socialism.
Government regulating things ≠ socialism
Roads and parks ≠ socialism
Socialism is based in the collective ownership of companies by the workers who make everything happen, rather than execs and managers. Socialism isn’t when government does stuff or when healthcare.
Cause they’re going to show a pop-up that advertises some “cool new feature”, and the 99% of users who aren’t tech literate will say yes and never think about it again.
People on this site severely overestimate how much the average person cares and their overall level of tech.
Not consumers, that’s for sure
DRM adds such a massive amount of overhead and is an absolute bastard to implement properly. Plus, it’s pretty easy to circumvent most DRM schemes when it comes to media.
Oh yeah. They brought us in for one and said it was a 2 drink maximum. No one was actually checking, so we were all plastered with the admins
As someone who was invited to that first group and told them to go fuck themselves, it’s actually mostly people who have participated in reddit surveys and reddit mod meetups (where mods from a local area get blasted on Huffman’s dime). Almost every mod that I know that went to one of these events got an invite and all of them gave similar answers to me.
Also, 200k karma isn’t a ton. It likely places you in the top 1%, but most people don’t participate anyways. I had over 300k (I think, I’m not checking) and maybe 1k was from a single post. Everything else was from the occasional comment
For the first group though they didn’t actually bother to look into them. The 2 subs I ran have both been private since the last priest despite numerous warnings that I’d be removed if I didn’t make them public. And my subs participated in numerous protests before then.
Still a mod on there all this time later!
You can stream it from their website
I agree with everything except 4 and 6
4 because video live streaming is stupid expensive. Twitch only survives cause they’re owed by Amazon who owns numerous data centers to support it. Same deal with yt.
6 because everyone’s already doing short form video and we don’t need another tiktok alternative. We already have Instagram and YouTube, and their server infrastructure likely far exceeds that of reddit.
Yup.
Without checking, I’m betting that Ohio gave them incredibly tax breaks that are nearly without end, meaning none of the money goes back into the local economy whatsoever
My states done it so many times now, and we don’t have income tax, so none of the money goes back into the local economy on the executive side, only on the workers side, putting all the issues it causes on workers! Woo!
