It’s a libre implementation of RDP. Regardless of who pioneered it, it’s still open-source software, and Microsoft needs to keep RDP backwards compatible so it’s unlikely they’ll break it.
Worst case, FreeRDP can just go and do its own thing regardless of Microsoft

Definitely, he should try using Linux in a typical Microsoft-driven corporate environment with a regular laptop for a month and see how it is.
Microsoft is in bed with Canonical though, so Snaps are their preferred method of software delivery.
You do make a good point that there is a decent selection of proprietary software on Linux, but some of these are half-assed attempts (Discord, Zoom, Proton), and the vast majority of vendors are not thinking about Linux at all.
Vendors don’t give a shit about Linux.

Some cases let you mount the GPU vertically, especially SFF cases. This would display the fans of the GPU through the glass.
I’ve seen some people paint their GPU backplate.
