The biggest chilling effect I noticed, even as a developer who refuses to use AI, is that I feel like I can no longer ask my co-workers for advice. When I do, I get the the AI equivalent of “let me Google that for you, was that so hard?” So even without using it, I feel cut off from the normal places I would use to learn and improve my coding skills.

“Other people are assholes too” is a terrible reason to support an asshole. Expect better.

Thank you for posting this! I had a vague recollection there was something scummy about Brave, and I was surprised to see it recommended in so many of the “Which browser should I use?” posts. It’s really handy to have a chronical of bullshit like this to point to when it comes up

Could you elaborate on this? I’m still distro shopping and know basically nothing about Mint’s development history.
