Completely agree with you on the definition of centrism. Many North Americans online seem to have a problem with things being gray, coming to a consensus, or that great ideas (and solutions) can come from anywhere. If you don’t agree to everything a group says “you’re against them”. It’s primate thinking.

Flood maps should be based on science, not politics. If you build/buy a house close to water, you are taking the risk that it can be flooded, just like houses in any dangerous area: steeps hills, tornado areas, or whatever else. Crying that the house value will drop because of real risks is just egoistic. Demanding the map be changed may even put people’s lives at risk.

It’s a food bank by the uni for uni students. Regardless, students shouldn’t even require something like that in Canada. There’s a deeper problem.

It soon emerged that he had only worked there as an intern last fall, a 17-week contract that ended in December and didn’t pay $98,000 a year. The website Moneycontrol also reported that he is on a student visa and can’t even work full-time in Canada.

People will believe anything online. They just want to get riled up.

I think the bigger story here though is that food banks are necessary in Canada.
