I had no idea I even relied on them until they were down. My favorite podcast hosts through them and I had to find a workaround.

20,000 years of this, 7 more to go!
“Laying on grass” is complex?
Honestly, all the respectable advertisers left anyway so they have nothing to lose
Hey what can I say we were overdue
It’ll be over soon, just wait
Hard disagree. It got me walking around and exploring my town. It got me in contact with other Pokemon fans. It’s added an extra layer of reality on top of everywhere I go - vacations become rare opportunities for indiginous species hunting, which in turn become valuable trade offers.
Exercise is now a game, and I would otherwise be in front of a PC screen.
In most cases, the answer should really be “It’s none of my business”, but yes, it’d involve asking the person whether they’re authentic if you needed to verify for some reason.
But yes it really is wishful thinking, because it’s honestly about to be a shitshow. People are going to start getting credibly framed for things like child porn.
The ubiquity of AI fakes will necessitate a cultural shift. Honestly, the world is going to be a nightmare of misinformation soon and nudes may very well be the least of our worries.
What other options do we have? An ironclad verification system for any fabricated content? Wildly harsh penalties for all caught creating it? The ship has sailed - we won’t be able to prevent it from happening.
I’d argue that overexposure will make people quickly become accustomed/nonplussed at information we don’t believe to be true and verify with the source. Look at how we treat other fabricated content - if I showed you a screencap of the Pope saying “Fuck” you’d want to verify with a source directly.
I think the only thing we can do is to help out by calling this out. AI fakes are just advanced gossip, and people need to realize that.
I believe their point is that an employer logically shouldn’t care if some third party fabricates an image resembling you. We still have an issue with latent puritanism, and this needs to be addressed as we face the reality of more and more convincing fakes of images, audio, and video.

Yeah actually I saw that discord message not two minutes after I submitted my 3ds data haha. Luckily I kept a copy of it, so it was easy to resubmit. Then resubmit again about an hour later~
Ok, I went out and got an SD card reader (I needed one anyway for my dash cam). Less swapping seemed to do the job, got both my 2DS dump uploaded! Also just finished up with the WiiU spotpass dump :D
Hmm, not sure I’m going to be able to do it. I don’t have an SD card reader on my computer anymore… I do have an old ebook that could read it, but it might be a hassle getting everything shuffled around. Plus I need to figure out Python. Might have time for it tomorrow.
EDIT: This is a monumental hassle… my laptop can’t properly run the script it seems, CMD just auto-closes after trying to initialize the SD card, so I’m seeing if I can compress, upload to google drive, run it on my main computer, send back, then overwrite the SD card
EDIT2: It looks like I did the injection correctly, but the 2DS is stuck on a loading screen in the Extra Data Management page; the tutorial says “Follow the directions shown on the bottom screen.” :/
I’ll definitely look into this tonight. Affordable Space Adventures was fantastic and deserves to be remembered, but I’ve never seen another soul mention it.
Discord is remarkable. It has seamless video streaming from your desktop or apps to any number of watchers, with multiple peopld being able to stream at once. Paired with voice chat, it’s perfect for group gaming sessions, movie showings, desktop troubleshooting, video chat, etc. Besides some issues with input devices, it’s always worked flawlessly for me. Plus, obviously, a persistent server for chat.
And the fact that it’s fast, resource-light, and free are just the icing on the cake.
If you want an incredibly easy setup, the old Chromecast and the program Airparrot have been working flawlessly for me.
I know you say you don’t want mainstream, which I take to mean you don’t want ads, smart home listening devices, etc. The black chromecast (without the remote) is exacly what you want. You can mirror anything from a PC or phone over your wifi. The slight delay makes it unsuitable for gaming, but you don’t need that anyway.
Also super cheap. $20 for the chromecast and $18 for Airparrot (which you may not even need, the chrome browser has desktop mirroring, but I had some issues with it).
You need empathy to moderate. What other reason is there to do it? You want to make the community a better place by keeping things civil and on-topic. You also need to be able to level with people about their criticisms and concerns.
