This is something I wish cyberpunk media touched more on.

One thing I always thought about when playing cyberpunk 2077 is why wouldn’t companies have a failsafe for their equipment being used against them. In the game, you can use cyber decks from Arisaka and Militech and be able to hack and assault their infrastructure and employees with impunity.

I am not really sure companies would allow that…

They NEED shit like that to exist. Bullshit needs more bullshit to survive. This is why despite murdering countless people and endless campaigns funded by billions of dollars there are still leftist movements that won’t die.

And there was a time when the computer science world wanted to avoid this… and it was 1990 (yes, almost 35 years ago) when the term digital dark age was coined. It was in response to several things. Firstly: the first voyager probe was sent and the code used to store the information could not be disciphered by (then) the latest computers, which resulted in a problem. The second thing is that governments all around the world were starting to be heavily computerized and the older computers used in the 1960s were 100% incompatible with newer systems.

In the US and UK in 1960 the first census were done by computers, and by just 1976 there were only two computers in the world that could read that data, and one of them was a museum piece.

The FOSS community has done far more to combat this with emulation over the past 30 years than any corporation has ever done. Whether it is for video games like MAME, MESS, or whatever console emulator you want to mention, or by OSes like MS-DOS and Amiga Lemon and countless others that emulate almost every system ever created.

Yeah. I got back on reddit with an alternate account and a VPN, the month I spent off kinda cooled down my appetite for that place. I still get a lot of news from it, so technically I don’t need to post as much but… fuck me, I hated zionists before and right now I cannot describe my loathing for those people.

I got permabanned from reddit because I said to a zionist who accused all Lebanese of blaming all their problems on Israel ‘no, we just blame Israel for what it deserves blame for’ and apparently that constituted a call to violence against a marginalized group.

Meanwhile the amount of genocide justification and thinly veiled threats of genocide almost always go unpunished. Stuff like saying that no one in the world cares for Lebanon except its cuisine and landscape (implying the people can disappear and nothing will be lost) or telling people not to worry about future problems, implying that they will soon entirely annhiliate Lebanon.

This isn’t even just it. Anyone calling out the sheer amount of propagandists or showing how real the Hasbara program is (look it up) will get their posts removed. Even the Syria subreddit is packed with low-effort videos and anti-Lebanese propaganda. For example: Any show of what appears to be crowds of people celebrating is attributed to Syrians celebrating the death of Nasrallah, and any violence happening is automatically attributed to Hezbollah Lebanese (or even Lebanese in general) just attacking Syrians for nothing.

Those videos show no indication of who the people are or what they are doing, and that is how you know it is fake. They also keep making huge claims of Hezbollah conducting massive bombing operations in Syria against random civilians when there is not the slightest shred of evidence to support that, not even news articles or reports from Israeli sources. Just show a bunch of amublance workers and then claim it is a Hezbollah bombing.

It is as depressing as it is disgusting.

When I said I am glad this is happening, I mean I am glad that the workers are standing up to Amazon by quitting and heading to a different company. And by ‘fuck em’’ I was referring to Amazon and other employers who want undue influence on the lives of their employees.
