This finally made all my Chrome friends switch to the fox. about time
Like you, I am a living person with memories, emotions, and interests. But from your perspective, I’m just another picture on a screen. Isn’t that concerning?

I condone poisoning this feature with false info. maybe it will teach them that the dislikes should be public again. using an extension is cool and all, but so many people still don’t know about it.
It has been since proton imo. only one person in my group is still on the base version of the fox, the rest of us have preferred forks.
Just don’t tell them lol. My friend in school gave me his steam account that had some games on it that I had no money for and he wasn’t using it anymore. Still my main steam account 8 years later.
I was screen sharing to someone when this happened and they asked why I don’t use Google when other search engines are this unreliable. Despite me explaining it wasn’t the usual, It was still pretty embarrassing lol. Wonder if DDG has the resources for an independent index.
if you’re being for real, it’s successor is this. though compared to other offerings these days I don’t really prefer to use it. open source and no ads tho so that’s cool.
I’ll probably look more into it, but the only reason I didn’t before is because I couldn’t find one in my price range with reasonable specs that ran on Linux. I have a G15 5515 that cost me around 500 when I got it, has an rtx 3050 and 16gb ram with a ryzen 5. System76 didn’t really have any comparable offerings for that price at the time.
Wait, could you explain? So KDE can control scaling at the application level? Because I was able to set the scaling in the actual settings just fine and it worked for the UI and most applications. I just remember a few wouldn’t scale up no matter what I did.
Yep, Nvidia. As for the scaling issues I’m not sure either. UI elements were fine but no matter what desktop environment I used, some things (though I can only remember steam immediately) would be super tiny in full 1080p instead of scaling with the rest of the applications. Didn’t try tiling window managers because honestly I don’t enjoy them so no comment on that one.
I really, really wish Linux worked better on my gaming laptop. I used it for many years on desktop as my only OS (hopped many distros and ended back on mint) but on laptops I just can’t find a distro without considerable issues. Whether it be display scaling problems, performance, not being able to switch my video card mode, etc…
Hmm, good point.
The only thing we reasonably have is security through obscurity. We are something bigger than a forum but smaller than Reddit, in terms of active user size. If such a thing were to happen here, mods could handle it more easily probably (like when we had the spammer of the Japanese text back then), but if it were to happen on a larger scale than what we have it would be harder to deal with.
I used to use startpage but just recently switched back to ddg. for some reason on my browser the search would return errors or sometimes I’d type my search query and it would just load the homepage of the site. Sometimes it just feels like there is no winning. :/
YouTube already denies many creators of their due rewards from viewership over trivial things like saying the word “hell” in a video. it’s obviously something more considering it’s Google we’re talking about.
you could install Android on a raspberry pi with a usb remote.
It actually seems like one of these or a raspberry pi running Kodi might be exactly what I’m looking for. Thanks!
My TV is a dumb TV (for lack of a better name). It does have a USB port, but it only displays photos and can’t play external footage. I keep all of my downloaded media on an external HDD. I did look into the whole XBMC aka Kodi / jellyfin combo stuff for a bit.
another win for the startpage gang
I have iOS 15.4 and I have a default browser that isn’t Safari. This is more in reference to a new popup on first time bootup that asks you to pick a browser. You could pick a default one before this, you just had to go download it first like on a computer.
This explains why I got a text from my carrier saying all phones now come unlocked. Guess they’re preparing ahead of time. Mine was already unlocked, but still.
