Because it normalizes a word and desensitizes it, making it less likely for victims to stand up. It can also bring up horrifying memories in SA survivors.
There exist negative words that do not share the same mass systemic connotations. It’s generally better to use words that don’t bring with them the same issues.

Please don’t use “rape” as a casual negative verb, there are better, more accurate words to use that don’t needlessly reference SA.

I just followed the comfy arch install guide with some additions from the comments section on YouTube, and I had a working machine quickly.
Linux has different flavors, some with bleeding edge updates like Arch, some rock-stable and built on FOSS like Debian, some that force you to compile nearly everything on your end to save fractions of seconds in compute time like Gentoo, and some meant to be as beginner friendly as possible like Cinammon/Mint.
Linux “fans” are likely to use something like Arch and break something, then fix it. People who use Linux will use Fedora or something and call it a day. You don’t have to go down the rabbit hole and play with all of the shiny new tools as they release.
I’m not sure you need data to understand that if more people use a product, there’s a greater chance someone will develop FOSS for it, as FOSS developers tend to also be users.
There’s also more chances of FOSS being developed for Linux if more people use it. FOSS is better the more popular it gets.
Traditional engineering areas can’t be as easily automated. Certain aspects certainly can, but prototyping usually involves physical presence, as well as installation or testing.
