It would suck if working class Americans lost their retirement money due to Wall Street getting what they deserve. But what sucks more is that our retirement system is based on letting rich people gamble with your money in the first place!

It’s only malware if wealthy companies aren’t making money off of it.
It may be too late on this front, but don’t say AI when there isn’t any I to it.
Of course it could be successfully argued that humans (or at least a large amount of them) are also missing the I, and are just spitting out the words that are expected of them based on the words that have been ingrained in them.
I wish you would! The closest one to me is just under 1,000 miles away.
And now Safeway!
But don’t worry, there’s still Walmart as an option.
Have you seen fast food prices recently? $25 is a meal deal with one additional burger/taco because the meal is too small to feed anyone older than a toddler.
Not saying that fast food is the cheapest option anymore, but it is a common option.
I only have one smaller chain grocery store in my area, and it’s half snake oil targeted to old hippies. It’s also three to four times as expensive because old hippies apparently have money?
I wish we would get an Aldi’s.
I’m ok calling the Toupee “former President and convicted felon”.
Newegg has gone down the toilet since being bought out (story of everything). If you have a Microcenter near you I’d recommend that.
I don’t want anything smart in my car. I want a(n electric) engine that starts with a goddamned physical key that turns in a physical ignition. I want a volume knob that turns with a 1:1 ratio to the volume, ditto for climate control fan speed and temperature. The only thing I want my phone to do in conjunction with my cLilar is display the GPS.
Ryan George too, he’s very clear in his VPN ad reads that he uses them to access streaming that isn’t available to him in outer space (his shtick is that he’s an ADstronaut).
They should have thought of that before hiring Will Ferrell to be a clown in a commercial for them.
There are dozens of us them (I assume)!
They just sell the data. If they need user data (beyond basics) they might buy it from a data mining company.
My pockets’ capacity is determined by the thickness of what I’m shoving in there, not the height. A folding phone is the worst possible thing as it doubles the thickness at the expense of height.
Scheduling meetings is easy. Don’t do it. Send an email.
“But what about when…” No. Email over meetings. You’re not special, your job isn’t special, your company isn’t special, your perceived needs aren’t special. Send an email. If that isn’t enough, send another email. If you get the urge to “give them a quick call”, firmly grasp your phone and hurtle it out the highest window or rooftop you have access to. Then send another email.
I think they do actually want to cut the high skilled talent. High skill means high pay, and now that they’ve achieved market dominance in pretty much every industry they’ve stuck their penis into they don’t need talent. Lower skilled, and therefore lower paid, employees can do just good enough to keep everything from burning down just long enough for the C-suite to get their bonuses and cash out. After that, who cares, they’re on to their next grift.
You could also think this applies to all corporations in some degree. But no, there’s a fresh batch of
bright eyed optimistic people out of schoolpeople desperate to not be homeless or starve every year.
I dream of the day I can get my own brain to actually create normal levels of dopamine that I don’t get addicted, then tolerant, to.
I had to reboot my Windows 10 desktop because the software I have to manage my wallpaper wasn’t working (and still isn’t), and had to unplug my second monitor during reboot otherwise the Steam overlay won’t work. After rebooting, I had a different software prompt me to update and the save file location window froze the browser for 3-4 minutes, while discord was freezing in the foreground. The taskbar disappeared until I restarted Explorer.exe, some telemetry process I had never heard of before was eating up 92-100% of the CPU and I had to go into the scheduler to disable it.
This is an average day with Windows nowadays. I didn’t even mention the myriad of perpetual issues I’ve been having.
Of course on my Linux laptop Chrome wouldn’t update automatically either through the browser or from the command line (and I have to use Chrome because Google Drive doesn’t work right on Firefox on Linux).
