Isnt NewPipe still making calls to YouTube from your IP? I think you’d need to also configure it to use an Invidious or Piped instance.

Reading comprehension is important. As is a highschool level understanding of how our legal system works.

You know, we also have a very sturdily built Brother sewing machine and I never noticed that they’re the same company that made our printer.

As an outsider with a researcher PhD in the family, I suspect its an issue of how the institutions measure success. How many papers? How many cites? Other metrics might work, but probably not as broadly. I assume they will also care about the size of your staff, how much grant money you get, patents held, etc.

I suspect that, short of a Nobel prize, it is difficult to objectively measure how one is advancing scientific progress (without a PhD committee to evaluate it.)

Perhaps he sees the personal blog format as a bit egotistical or otherwise not fit for purpose. Or perhaps he just isn’t a naturally talented writer. Its not as if he’s shy about sharing his thoughts outside that.

Also worth noting that he and Bruce Schneier, who is a much more prolific writer, share many of the same views and partner together at Inrupt.
