Where do you think you are, exactly?

Really hope you people are as energetic about stopping y’know, the genocide here, in this country, that you benefit from. I’m sure you are and it isn’t just an easy performance.

Edit: lol, yup, that’s what it was. You people are spineless, only vocal about genocide when you’re comfortable knowing most people agree, then you shut up when you get something out of it. Canada is a genocidal state and always has been, shut the fuck up about wanting justice if you think there is anything just about the existence of this country.

Dude, you just discovered that the New World was in fact, dominated and colonized by Europeans? Welcome to planet earth my fine son.

In your mind, someone criticizing Canadians for their complacency in Canadian colonialism is somehow an indicator that they weren’t aware of colonialism.

You guys are so fucking easily satisfied, it’s honestly disgusting. I’ve had this community get mad at me for criticizing the US too, y’know, before suddenly you guys woke up and realized it was evil because you were now marginally effected. Same with the EU, and same with Israel.

The issue is, what the fuck do you want anyone here to do about it?

Wail and moan, cover their heads with ash, roll on the floor, pulling their hair out, grovel in contrition over something no one in this day and time had anything to do with? There’s all this rage over the past and the current bullshit that is happening in the here and now and people ARE admitting that yeah… some of us had right rotten ancestors. So… what now?

What ARE you looking for with these rancid attacks over shit we know the history of? What’s your point that we don’t already know and that many already have come to the same conclusion about?

I mean if you’re just venting, at least admit it.

Hey, bud, read the comment my original comment responded to. These dickheads assumed Canada would be a place where genocide is taken seriously. I don’t care if it makes you uncomfortable, I’m going to call out colonizer shit. These people literally just ignored the fact that Canada supports this genocide by presuming that whatever this guy is doing is punishable. If you all know your history so fucking well, you’d be more consistent.

              Fuckin chud.

No country built on colonialism and supported by capitalism will take an honest, introspective look into genocide.

The best that people can work for is to vote for a government that doesn’t support or contine the tradition…

Given the absolute moral vacancy of capitalism as it’s being practiced today and basic human greed underpinning it, it’s not going to happen quickly - no matter how impatient you are, and calling it out in rancorous terms just makes people and governments dig their heels in. That is human nature.

The kind of profound societal change needed takes decades, maybe even centuries and doesn’t arrive in a burst of righteous indignation.

…basically, you can catch more flies with honey, than you can with vinegar.

Right, sure, which is how we got any concessions we have so far, by being nice and patient.

Your entire way of life has been built by other people doing that work and taking those risks for you, or did you think labour rights, healthcare, protections against racial, gendered, and sexual discrimination was all bought with “honey?” You think slavery was abolished in this country because people just felt fuzzy and warm one day? People died to get that for us, least you can do is recognize that and work to reduce the cost of blood in whatever comes next.

No, this system is not fucking human nature, Ford Raptors and global systems of power are not human nature, and that is an understanding invented by the institutions of this system exactly because it inspires complacency among its privileged classes who can absolve themselves of the responsibility to challenge something they then believe is inevitable.

You don’t know your history, you haven’t even read a book that outlines the debates on this topic, you think vibepolitics is enough. Other people don’t have the privilege of being satisfied with so little.

Nice and patient? No, no patience, but a realization that change isn’t instant. Decades… It can take decades.

                    Sometimes even things get ugly.

Like when my friends and I got the shit kicked out of us by Billy Bulgers fag-bashing Boston police in 1988. (ActUp was a riot.) Or when I marched with hundreds of thousands of other people on Washington DC for reproductive rights…

And sometimes you have to make chages in your own life choices. Such as when I quit the cable TV in 1999 as a permanent boycott of corporate media, and decided to not own a house or have kids, chose to keep my income under 30k a year so as to minimize my tax liability to a corrupt governent, lived without medical insurance my entire adult life, (surprise! I’m not a Canadian!) and decided to also refuse to buy anything new (other than underwear) for the last, oh… 35+ years…

Shit… You think that I’m using a computer right now that was anything other than a dumpster dive, thrown away by kids that have to have the newest, fanciest kit? (It really is a dumpster dive machine…)

The greed and avarice are ENTIRELY human nature, hardwired into our skulls by thousands of years of selective adaptation that put the most resources (ostensibly for breeding with the best partners and rearing children successfully) into the hands of those with the greatest drive to get them. The weak get pushed aside. This is Primate 101 behavior manifest into an economic model called capitalism. The past few decades it’s been gutted of regualtory constraints, and is in full lassiez-faire mode, which is where we find ourselves now. Anything goes! And it does.

So… what choices will you make… how are YOU going to undermine the dominant paradigm of a consumerist, conformist, capitalist society that is incapable of addressing it’s current societal injustice and indolently refuses to wear it’s own history?

A cause you believe in must be worth trying all approaches, no? If you truly believe in something, and you only turn to hostility to others, then your cause will only look as a hostile position to hold.

Canada openly supports Israel politically and financially, it is full of white supremacists, and the state classified Hamas as a terrorist organization, this is not a country whose legal system is favourable for anti-fascism.

Hate speech laws here are also oriented around illegalizing the profit from hate speech or its promotion, not just saying bigoted shit. You guys think this started only when you started noticing?
